fame, fame, fatal fame

It can play hideous tricks on the brain...
So, I work part time at Sur La Table here in Portland, teaching baking classes and all. One of our guest chefs, Chef Tse, does a monthly bit on AM Northwest, and one day she emailed me to say that the producer was looking for somebody to do an occasional baking segment. One thing led to another and this was the result:

I hadn't originally planned on making Yorkshire Parkin, but the producer deemed my original ideas a bit too complex for the intended audience. And, it's tough to think up something that will work. It's gotta be simple, interesting, and able to be demonstrated in a few minutes. So my Anglophile self said "Well, it is right around Guy Fawkes day (not that anybody in Portland cares about that), and parkin may be the right balance of new yet familiar." That was that.

The whole experience was really a blast, and I could probably get back on to do more segments, save one difficulty: I now work Wednesdays, and that's when these are filmed :[
